Pete the cat, too cool for school by Kimberly and James DeanAudio children's book Pete the cat. He has many choices of what to wear to school to be the cool guy.He asks others for their advice and they tell him their favorites. Silly tale and then after school he decides on what his favorites are...I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).
We like the Pete the Cat books, which are part of Harper Collins' "My First Level, I Can Read!" series. Pete may not be as well known as Little Critter, Biscuit, Fancy Nancy, or the Berenstain Bears, but he has a kid-size groovy vibe that bests those slightly aging franchise bedrocks.Unlike some of the "I Can Read" books, the Pete books usually have a complete story, with a clear beginning, a couple of developments in the middle, and then a satisfying ending. I like that even in very early readers. What happens makes sense and the endings are satisfying. Each fully illustrated page has two sentences, running from four to seven words each. That's a nice length and a good and fair challenge for a little starting reader. The drawings fully support the text, and while they look a bit amateurish at first the characters are actually expressive and presented effectively.Many of the Pete books have a mild message, (be yourself, do your best). Here, Pete is choosing an outfit to wear to his first day at school. He takes advice from everyone and ends up way, way overdressed and rather silly looking. Finally, Pete takes off everything and puts on what he wants. Be yourself indeed. The message didn't strike me as terribly heavy-handed, but that's mostly because it was hidden under so many layers of silliness. The Pete books vary in their messageness, and this one does fall a bit to the obvious side of the balance. That said, it's fun and a bit ambitious, which is a nice touch for such an early reader.So, all in all, this is one of the few early readers books that strikes me as "set worthy" and we've been happy to collect them all over time. The paperback versions are particularly good value.
This book was disappointing. I bought it since my son is a major Pete The Cat fan but he wasnt interested in this book at all and frankly neither was I. There is no song, no asking questions, no fun story line. It was basically "hey its valentines day, watch me make cards for people, the end." The best part of the whole book was the valentines day cards inside. The poster was incredibly dumb and went in the trash pretty quickly. Its a picture of the cover of the book, and then its a picture of the book showing the cover. Pointless. I wouldn't recommend buying this unless you are only looking to get the valentines day cards.
This is a fun book, and Pete the Cat and his friend Callie are lots of fun. I like how they make Valentine cards for everyone, but I can't help but be bothered that Pete makes fun cards for all the boys in his class and then makes heart cards for all the girls. Thankfully my son can't read yet, so I help that part of the story be more friendly towards the girls.
My 5 year old loved Pete the Cat after I introduced him to the "white shoes" book. We then purchased the Easter and Halloween books, which he enjoyed as much as the original. This was purchased as a Valentine gift that he was thrilled to receive and wouldn't put it down. It is written exactly the same as the other holiday books, which was disappointing to me and is the reason for a four star rating instead of five stars. However, if your child likes Pete, he/she will enjoy reading this book, too.
This was purchased for a barely 3 year old to give to her parents for Valentine's Day. There is a poster and stickers so it was challenging to discourage her from looking at those items as we prepared it as a gift. Once she opens the gift with her parents, I think it will be fun for them to read the book, play with the stickers, and to hang up the poster. It is a nice read also for a toddler/small child.
Can I give 10 stars? This $6.39 book is worth a million! The story is really cute & the tear out cards, stickers & poster come perforated for easy removal.I ordered LLAMA LLAMA valentines & If you give a mouse... Valentine’s also. They are all sweet books but the kids really loved the activity included.
I did not expect the quality of this book to be as good for the price. Hard bound book and larger than a typical book. Roughty 9x9" I had purchased it for a small valentine's gift but for the price, I'm going to keep it and just get a bigger bag. Who doesn't love Pete the Cat?
While not a big fan of the Old McDonald song, I grew to like it via Pete's interpretation and colorful art work. I also get to like the many repetition and different animal sounds the book suggests, with its corky drawing and easy to read layout. Thanks Pete for re-introducing me to this tiring old song.

EEEEK! I cant't say ENOUGH about how much I love this collector's addition book!!!!!!!!!! I read Vol. 2 in one day and immediately ordered 3 + 4 (so if you see my review on both vol. 3 and 4, that's why haha). The quality is great, the drawings are incredible, and the story makes me SWOON like a middle schooler (and I'm 19 yrs old). Plus- the price is 10x better here than in other book stores or other stores online !I will 100% be buying the rest of the series <3
I have bought 1-5 so far (buying 1 every other week) and I am in love. The collection is adorable and they look great on my book shelf. The quality is great and the illustrations are beautiful. I am just writing this because on the Momiji manga had some marks on it and none of the others did. Regardless I still love it and very happy with my purchases will be buying the rest of the series!Took a picture with ps4 game for size reference.
I love the series, but these books came badly damaged. I ordered all twelve of the collector's edition and over half of them came in the mail with tears or grime on the cover. Others were badly wrinkled. WIll have to return them.
Not too many anime series have gripped me like Fruits Basket has. I'm really hoping for a second and even a third season, but even if that does not happen, I still wanted to get the manga and find out what happens. I really recommend this product. Usually, each individual book costs around $10.00 US, so about $40.00 total. Here, with this box set, you get four books for twenty dollars! Plus, it comes in a nice attractive box. If you don't know what this anime is about, I highly recommend you watch it, even if you are not into the whole "romantic comedy" scene. And the author is so funny! I like her sense of humor and that she likes (loves) to play video games, and brags about it all the time. Well, that's it. Until later, Will out. God bless.

They come in a decent box, but I've seen better box quality (but I've also seen worse box quality).The real treat with this boxset is Amazon's price which is just shy of $20. If you buy something else at the same time to push you over the free shipping mark of $25, then this will make the four graphic novels less than $5 each shipped; this is extremely rare for brand new manga, especially such a popular series like Fruits Basket.If you are unsure whether you'd like the series, I'd only buy separate volumes if, when you try new manga titles, you tend to stop after the first book when making up your mind. If you're like me in that you at least usually give the second volume a try even if you are unsure if you'll like the series, then this boxset is the way to go. It's basically 4 manga for the price of 2.
It was a little beat up, but its a used book so I guess that was to be expected.As for the actual story, this was one of my first manga back in middle school, and I still absolutely love the story!

I don’t take her as seriously as a contender for romance, and really wouldn’t mind a girl being introduced as a real character who doesn’t care about Raku romantically, so her declaring her love for Raku annoys me. I don’t mind her goading the other girls into embarrassing situations, though.Next, Marika tries a new tactic to get Raku’s attention: ignoring him. This only concludes in a super sweet scene between them, though, where she gets all sappy and Raku is super sweet to her. Then we see a confession from Chitoge, to a side character, while trying to convince them of her “real†relationship with Raku.The last big plot is a school festival, including a lot of very cute cosplay, and a beauty contest. The beauty contest was actually rather funny, with a surprise twist at the end, and I appreciated that. I do find Haru’s crush as annoying as Yui’s, and mostly just unnecessary, though. My Dutch wife and I have for a long time discussed the reason US people often vote against their own best self interests and how inequality has evolved so greatly. This is a very complicated and long story, made more difficult to understand by the clever and persistent disinformation. It is akin to the Matrix... nearly impossible to see clearly from within. But Taibbi offers a solid explanation:1. During the time from WW2 until say 1980, rich and rising middle all shared in the temporary prosperity created by turmoil following the war. The middle share came from a combinations of strong labor unions and strong regulations created after the Depression to prevent banks and finance from gaming the economy.2. By 1980 Europe was rebuilt and the Asian countries were beginning to become serious competition. The rich/power class understood that the only was for them to continue to do well, was to take a larger slice of smaller pies!3. In Reagan they found a perfect 'front man'... good actor / not too smart! Start undoing the regulations and participating more directly in government.4. Grabs were made in the S&L crisis (not very successful - people actually went to jail), 5 trillion lost and stolen in Dot-Com, hundreds of billions stolen during oil futures scam in 2008, and maybe 10 trillion in the mortgage scam and Great recession.This con has taken 30 years and is still very much in play. Bubbles of fake value offer huge opportunities for very complicated theft and changes in the laws prevent prosecution. Huge... corrupt the Supreme Court to allow ever more money into politics, buy countless lawmakers, keep telling people be careful... the small amount you are now getting is only thanks to us the job creators. And at the same time, your looney - pit bulls (like Palin, Hannity, or Limbaugh keep shouting out that the enemies of the working class are the poor, minorities, immigrants and the government itself! While we the rich take the cash out the backdoor.Cool book!!!!
Most people I know, be they conservative, liberal, or somewhere in between, try to live decent, moral lives. Well, this book is about the other cats. Ya know, the kind of greedy creatures who eat human hearts for breakfast. Many of these immoral nasty globs of walking excrement, who inhabit the world of Wall Street finance and Washington DC, seem to rationalize their actions as necessary and, heck, even heroic. Ugh. Mr. Taibbi does a nice job explaining in layman's terms why you should be upset with so-called "Masters of the Universe." There's a good reason the book is peppered with sarcastic and righteous indignation. Lying, cheating, as well as scamming are the norm in the land of Mordor and all are abundantly displayed in 'Griftopia.'Mr. Taibbi takes to task newspapers; journalists; the Tea Party; Alan Greenspan; Ayn Rand; Presidents Reagan right through to and including Obama; Wall St. Ponzi schemes; the dot-com. and sub-prime mortgage bubbles; taxation and bailouts, the criminal fiascoes at AIG, Goldman "Sauron" Sachs, Morgan Stanley etc.; the 2008 inexplicable gasoline price hikes which had nothing to do with supply-and-demand; Florida's rocket dockets to deal with home foreclosures, and healthcare insurance cartels who are exempt from anti-trust laws. There's a lot of people to hate in this thing. If you don't step away from 'Griftopia' better informed and ticked off then there's a 99.9% probability you're one seriously dumb-as-dirt masochist.Much like Pulitzer-Prizewinner-for-Beat-Reporting David Kay Johnson's excellent work ('Perfectly Legal,' 'Free Lunch,' 'The Fine Print',) Mr. Taibbi is a solid muckraking journalist who is smart, insatiably curious and knows how to explain issues in a clear, entertaining manner. Mr. Taibbi is so good, I'm going to be picking up his other works. It's a great way to become a better informed citizen and the ensuing anger will clean out the plaque buildup clogging your arteries.

The subject matter is fascinating, (Michael Milken),yet the author's continuous use of sophisticated vocabulary made the constant look up of definitions on the Kindle annoying. It reduced the ability to stay with the continuity of the story, which is complex, given how many examples of deals, companies, and related individuals were covered. Den of Thieves tells the story with all players involved in such an enjoyably readable way that you can't put it down.

I didn't realize that this book was as old as it is. I was hoping for a more up-to-date history of the Drexel story. The book is very well researched, but due to its very nature, there are quotes taken from numerous "sources" that are un-named.
Good storytelling and faster-paced than Den of Thieves, which has a different focus (insider trading as opposed to Milken’s money machine) and has more specific details of certain elements of the story.
Very well written. Very engaging. It was a fun read. As good a read as Den of Thieves. Very enjoyable.
Good read. If you're interested in the 80's and learning more about the players that took over companies using junk bonds in those days.

I could NOT no matter how I tried, get though the state manual. And yes you need to because your state has different laws then other states and different driving conditions. I think they should put out a state supplement. This was not a dream easy no sweat no problem, but it was doable.
