I wasn't sure what I was getting into with MY BEST FRIEND'S EXORCISM. Nostalgia? Horror? Comedy? A little bit of all of those things would be the fair summary. The first chunk of the book details how our main character Abby becomes friends with Gretchen, and their personal history is peppered with a number of pop culture references that instantly make the characters relatable to anyone over thirty years old. For younger readers, some of these references may be alienating, like how the girls dressed up like Madonna and sang "Like a Virgin" in the mirror (though honestly, teen girls have done this for decades now--if not Madonna, then Britney Spears or Selena Gomez to younger readers--and that Hendrix taps into shows an awareness of how pop culture obsession becomes a rite of passage). These references certainly place the book in its time and place when there was a growing public fright of devil worship and eighties' debauchery. The possession affecting Gretchen starts in subtle ways that become more obvious as the book goes on, but through it all, where the reader is able to plow forward through all the challenges is through Abby's care for Gretchen. You want not only for the girls to live but for their friendship to continue as well. It's a fast-paced read that is one part John Hughes and one part Robert Bloch. My only quibble is that Hendrix's writing, while enjoyable and interesting, feels like the story's being told from a distance where the reader learns everything about the characters as if someone else is telling them, almost a clinical kind of narration. It makes it a bit hard to fully immerse in the story, but it is still a great read.Recommended for: young adult and older readers, people who grew up during the 1980s, horror-comedy fans, fans of unusual friendship stories
I'll be honest, I bought this book solely because of the cover! Seriously, this is the single greatest cover in the history of paperbacks! It reminds me of walking through those quirky old independent video stores back in the '80s and '90s and discovering some crappy, wonderful hidden VHS gem.The cover is appropriate because the novel takes place in the 1980s. While it does deal with satanic possession, it's really about the normal ups-and-downs of teenage friendship. While I'm a middle-aged man, I felt a great connection with and sympathy for these two teenage, female protagonists. There are a few stock characters, but they seem reminiscent of the stock characters you find in '80s horror movies (the arrogant rich girl, the brainy girl, the jock with only one thing on his mind, etc.). Indeed, these characters only highlight the two girls at the center of the story.While this story is mostly dramatic horror, there are a few moments of real, shudder-inducing horror. I highly recommend "My Best Friend's Exorcism."
What a difference a cover makes. This book came out last year. I saw it on NetGalley with its original cover. I had no interest. It looked and sounded like a generic book about possession.Fast forward a year.A good friend of mine posted a picture of the newly released paperback edition. All the '8o's awesomeness present blew my brains out my skull. It looks like a video cassette straight outta the golden age of horror VHS. I promptly ordered my copy.The lesson here: authors, please know that covers matter. Just say NO to bad book covers.MY BEST FRIEND'S EXORCISM by Grady Hendrix is about two best friend's (Gretchen and Abby) and the power of friendship. Yes, there is a demon. Yes, Gretchen gets possessed. Yes, some really disturbing stuff happens, but most of the horror here is in the background. You know somethings coming, but you get so caught up in Abby's life that you kinda forget you're reading a horror book.Filled with great characters and a ton of rad '80's references (the story starts in '82, but mostly takes place in '88), Hendrix hit all my reading joy spots. His writing style in this book was very straight-forward and easy to follow, a flow reminiscent of Hunter Shea and Adam Cesare. I couldn't put it down. I usually read multiple books, but once I started this one, I couldn't stop.Unfortunately, the ending fell flat and left me more depressed than satisfied. Once we get to the exorcism, well, Hendrix skirts the classic Exorcist battle, making his more lightweight and cheesy. Honestly, it fits the '80's, but I wanted it to be so much more. The one aspect of the ending I did appreciate was that police show up after the exorcism. You never see that in these books.I'd say about 85% of this books is fantastic. Even with that ending, I can see this book landing in my Top 5 Reads of 2017. If you're an '80's kid, go grab this one now!I'm giving MY BEST FRIEND'S EXORCISM 4.5 stars.

I thought this book was very unique and gave it as a wedding gift to the couple going to bora bora whom felt it was very interesting.
Focuses on the 2 most expensive resorts with an overview of some other resorts, wish it covered a little more of the mainland

My partner and I are planning a holiday to bora bora and purchased this book to help with our planning. It is such a wonderful and comprehensive guide of bora bora and has everything you need to know before booking a trip. It saved us so much time in our planning. We didn't want to spend hours and hours online looking at websites and trying to decide where to stay and what activities to do. We also found that the book had information on lots of things that we werent even really considering (like local festivals). We also really enjoyed the section on "a week in bora bora" because it helped to figure out what we could fit into each day. We are even planning on copying some of the itinerary. Its clear that the authors have a real love for Bora Bora and this comes through in the book. We can't wait for our trip and would highly recommend this book to anyone who is planning a trip!

It's saved me so much research time. The Kindle book is brilliant, because I can travel around carrying the whole book with the application on my Phone and laptop. Dr. Vanessa Bryant agrees to be relocated to Daeria not as a surrogate but as a healer. But fate will have her will she meets not one but two hot dragon shifters that make her want to burn up the sheets. Sadly someone is unhappy that she has found her future in Madden and Kian and is making attempts to ruin the future for all of them. Enjoy this sexy and exciting adventure, I did.
I loved revisiting the Nightflame Dragons and their Ladies! such s great book. Can’t wait to read the rest of the stories!

Dragons' Savior is the second book in the Nightflame Dragons series. In this book we follow Daerian dragon shifters Madden & Kian as they convince their human mate, Vanessa that she's the one for them.Vanessa Bryant was a doctor until they took her liscense away for something that wasn't really her fault. She hasn't even begun to decide what she'll do next when she's offered a position as a doctor on Daeria. She travelled to her new planet along with the first group of women bound to be surrogates for the shifters there. When she & the other women are whisked away by the Nightflame dragons, Vanessa finds she'll be living with Madden, the local healer & the clan's prince, and his friend Kian. She explains she's not a part of the surrogate program but these shifters are telling her she's their mate. This is not what she signed up for, but is it what she wants?Madden knows the new doctor from Earth is his mate, but she's telling them she's not part of the surrogate program. He & Kian must find a way to convince her that she's their mate & she should give them a chance. They've waited so long for their mate - they can't lose her now, but what happens when someone decides their mating shouldn't happen?I loved the first book in this series & am happy to say this second book is just as good. The main characters were introduced in the first book, Dragons' Jewel & are fleshed out nicely in this story. The supporting characters are from the first book & stay nicely in the background. The plot line is a continuation of the one started in Dragon's Jewel, with just enough new & different to keep it interesting. Meeting his friend and roommate made things even worse cause she felt the same about them both.While getting adjusted to the job, the new planet, her living arrangement, she learned the brutal history of wars. No one could be sure there wouldn't be more battles. Still, she felt safe with her males and the earth women who had come before her were friendly.Could she be happy in her job and as a mother? Would she even have the chance after the dangerous threats and incidents?Another good one from the author. While part of a series the story stands alone. I'm ready for the next one!
Loved loved it. Again Milly does her thing she's so good at. Catching you with a story and making you smile.Nightflame Dragons series book 2, slid on it to fit in beautifully with the first book. Vanessa is a kick smart and with spunk. Madden and Kian so different but yet not - the Warrior and the Healer they compliment each other.The Story continues with the Dragon King, trying to bring together different races and form a community that works and that is safe while rebuilding his world. Enters Vanessa a human doctor without a license, she made sure they knew she wasn't all about being a baby's mama but offering her skills as a doctor.Well, of course, things as usually don't work the way we want. Right? Grab this story and the fun, hot and some dangerous antics as various races try to rebuild and someone isn't so happy about that. I did mention hot scenes right? *smiles* enjoy
Sweet and sexy. Ok.. so it was hot as h..e.. double hockey sticks as well. Part of this book runs parallel with book 1.. keep reading because that is short lived. Vanessa, Madden, and Kian need to find out who is out to get them. Or, are the things happening just coincidence? Vanessa never wanted to be an actual surrogate but can she change her mind? There are two sexy dragons that want her as their mate, but she needs time. She cannot imagine life without them after knowing them for only a short period of time. There is an HEA so we know things work out, but it is the journey that is worth the read.I voluntarily reviewed and advanced copy of this book.
Vanessa’s career is over. Just when she hits her lowest she is offered the opportunity to go to Daeria to work as a healer for the human women in the surrogate program. Although she isn’t an actual part of the surrogate program, she finds her mates right away.She is happy to be with her mates and still be a doctor, but she is in danger on this new world.Vanessa isn’t a shrinking violet. She is strong and smart. Madden and Kian are great mates for her. They are patient and willing to give her time to accept them. She has a new start and is more than willing to grab onto her new future.
