If you are looking for a guide to animal energy, I'd say this is it. It contains some animals that I thought, "There is no way that's in there." It is set up in alphabetical order so everything is easy to find. Each animal is pictured. Then it says, "If X shows up it means..." Then it tells you to call on X when you need Z." Finally it speaks about what energy the animal brings to you if it is your spirit animal. The other option is to simply ask the animal what it is bringing to you. I find that your intuition is pretty wise. Sometimes what I've gotten coincides with the book, sometimes not. When there is a difference, I trust my intuition.Anyway, the back has another quick list. If you need X, you can search that way. For example, if you need courage you can search for courage and there will be a list of animals that can help you.

If I didn't already have Ted Andrews' Animal Speak, I'd probably have given this a higher rating because I have not found many books on animal spirits and how they can speak to us and give us messages. This is a bit too "cut and dried" for me, compared to Animal Speak which dedicates several pages to each animal or bird species, and which includes many thought-provoking questions which help me to pinpoint that animal's meaning for me. That said, this book is very comprehensive and includes many creatures, which is great. This is definitely my second-tier book to look something up, but I am glad I have it.

The book is a spin-out of the author's previous work Power Animals: How to Connect with Your Animal Spirit Guide, which contains a very good introduction to discover and communicate with your animal spirit helper and 30 plus animal spirits descriptions. The two books should be bought together, or, even better, amalgamated in one.Animal Spirit Guides' introduction is not as insightful or matter of fact as Power Animals' but it is still helpful. This book has an amazing number of animal helpers catalogued (+200) and each animal section contains a brief description of the qualities of the animal, why is appearing in your life and the message is giving to you, the qualities of the animal that you have, and in which circumstances you would like to call this particular animal to help you.The book has a handy easy index to call animals on specific needs and purposes, and a guided meditation to contact your animal helper. The book also includes a very good bibliography, list of online websites devotes to animal helpers/totems and animals in general. The price makes it justice. It makes a good beside table book for consultation.

Good introduction to this area, as I am new to it. I became interested because of two incidents, and some unusual dreams. A while ago a flock of ravens, oddly, and in my case, rightly known as an "unkindness," decided to, en-masse, relieve themselves upon the hood of my car, which then needed two rounds in the car wash. Recently, squirrels, on separate occasions, have tried to climb into my car as I sat writing. I know there are many possible exoteric explanations, but none of them satisfied me. Although these occurrences may mean nothing, I do have an interest in the esoteric, and an insatiable need to research most everything, I decided to investigate, starting with this book, which is inexpensive (a real plus right now), and seems okay. As with many esoteric subjects, one needs to filter the information through ones own instincts. I tend to be both objective and subjective about everything new, until I am convinced. Since there is nothing scientific about this book, if you want science, don't buy it. If you want it for entertainment, it may fit the bill, because it isn't very deep. As I said, a good introductory book, and yes, fun.

“Animal Spirit Guides”, by Steven D. Farmer, Ph. D. Farmer has tried to take the confusing topic of animal guides etc. and sort it out into a workable body of reference knowledge. As with all such books, it presents nearly unlimited opportunity for debate, but that’s okay. This book is still among the best of several I’ve seen, even if only for the fact that it is based on plausible assumptions within, or without, the “scientific community”. Farmer also made the good decision to structure it so the reader can easily move between “What is it?”, “For what purpose does it appear?”, and “What is its’ connection to Me”? And then (thankfully) he added a sort of “concordance” to enable the reader to “search” through the entire gamut of animal guides in order to quickly (relatively) refine their conclusions. A feature that I think is particularly valuable is Farmer’s constant references to animal spirits in the role(s) of healers, in particular. I would think this to be a very good “have at the elbow" reference for anyone interested in animal guides, totem animals, power animals or whatever nomenclature one uses.

I like this Python guidebook. This guide for beginners. If you are a newbie so you can try this deep learning python guidebook. Beneficial guide for all. I also purchased that from Amazon. I think that's the perfect guidebook for all. Well, content from Author. Excellent job via Author. Thanks!

I had high hopes for this book, but noticed a spelling error on the “Prerequisites” page. This didn’t bode well. The book is in need of a decent editor. The spelling errors, grammatical errors, and choppy sentence structures make the text difficult to parse through. Worse still, the author appears to frequently raise a question but subsequently fails to address it adequately or even at all. This means a reader is constantly asking “What does the author mean?” or “What is the author trying to say?”I would not recommend.

Just finished the first three chapters of this book and you can really feel the enthusiasm of the author. He put so much effort in making the book comprehensible. For example, he doesn't use math equations to explain the theory of neural network but turn to Python code instead. It proves way easier to understand for me, someone working in industry for years. He begins by going straight into our first neural network, stating that "we have to start somewhere", which is a very good philosophy. During this "going straight" process, he knows exactly when I, as a beginner, will get puzzled and always put hints at the right place in the book, telling me not to worry if I don't something. He also uses a lot of metaphors to express concepts, making it fun to read but without loss of accuracy. This book is up-to-date and it is a masterpiece. Will update this review as I read through the book.

This Python Illustrated Guidebook causes me about profound learning. I discover this book from Amazon. In the event that you need to know profound learning with python, so's the ideal manual for you. This Python Illustrated Guide for fledglings. Take it and have a good time.

Being a beginner this is the first time I learn about Python this is one of the best book regarding the topic. Python is an interpreted, object-oriented, high-level programming language. It is powerful and applicable in many areas. It is used for automation of simple or complex tasks, numerical processing, web development. Also, the author uses a professional approach he comes on the level of reader and then he writes the book step by step in different phases. I like this book also want to recommend to Python learners.

I don't think I've ever come across a book of such poor quality. Says published by"Healthy Pragmatic Solutions Inc." Wonder who they are as they allow this:"under no circumstances are is the author responsible..." and "importnumpy as np".And tons of other typos. Obviously not written by a native English speaker asas whoever it was can't seem to figure out how to use the article "the".No page numbers. No index. I couldn't be bothered to check out the code examples.I kept tripping over the bad English. This book should score a MINUS five stars!

If you want to know more about Python you better have this book as your guide. Be able to discover how to use it and make your life easier. The book was written in a very simple way for better and easier understanding.

I read this book, I feel it is very useful.

Chock-full of real-world examples and a simple framework that can be utilized in any cross-cultural context, Meyer's work is characterized by a fresh and relevant voice, distilling down the essentials of communicating, persuading and working effectively around the globe. For any company or executive that wishes to conduct business internationally and does not yet have a program in place to do this, The Culture Map should be required 101 reading, because otherwise you're just winging it. In fact, I will recommend it to all my clients when they grow international sales forces (just as it was recommended to me for that reason). The content is common sense, the framework is easy to grasp, and the author has collected years of anecdotal observations appropriate for widespread relevance. She's clear and diagnostic in her advice and communication. Solid credibility, expertise and content. Get the book, read the book, full stop.But.Two giant and important stars docked as an alert to potential buyers of the audio portion of the book, which I would rate a zero were there not a text version available. Stop reading now if you were only going to buy the text version.Three irredeemable strikes against the audio version undermine Ms. Meyer's excellent efforts:1) The voice. As a business professional, you expect an authoritative presentation, much as you would experience during a conference or training session. You do not expect to be "read to" like a child attending a library reading. Yet the sing-songy community-theatre performance sounds just like the latter. (In fact, would be great at voicing schoolbooks to bring education to life.) This kills any notion of serious executive authority.2) The presentation. Because the narrator is obviously not versed in the language of business (let that sit for a moment...) she presents topics that are fundamental and crisp enough in writing as overly pedantic and breathless epiphanies. If you come across this sentence in the middle of an everyday business book paragraph - "One crucial principle to remember is that communicating is not just about speaking but also listening." - in context, a reader can reasonably assume we've finished with discussing the speaking topic, and we're transitioning over to the listening topic. However, the narrator naively presents this like it's a knowledge bomb you've never heard before -- ARE YOU WRITING THIS DOWN?? -- making the topic level seem more elementary and basic than you thought.3) I've saved the most surprising - and most egregious - for last. I'm still kind of not believing it myself.During the numerous multi-cultural examples, the narrator acts out the quotes from various cultures like puppet-show skits... by using mildly offensive, badly-impersonated foreign dialects in fake-broken English. Think of every cartoon stereotype, and it's re-enacted in this audiobook. I can't even begin to put my head around how the decision was made in developing a "how to communicate professionally across international cultures" book that it's OK to categorically lump entire countries into an inexpert caricature of their languages. Hey, it's not me being overly sensitive: it's pointing out the irony of this conscious decision in an international communication handbook!Maybe in the finale (I am having trouble getting through it) the narrator will surprise us in the audience with the revelation that the audio performance was just a parable to teach one of the "practical strategies for handling cross-cultural missteps" that the book promises and otherwise delivers on.We are business readers and we expect business value, not a sugar-coated lesson from Mary Poppins. To be clear, Mary Poppins is the definitive darling and a greatly loved character - but not a business trainer. Please, please narrate this book yourself, just as you train and present and educate. Please tell me this was a V1. Please tell me it was a joke.

Really good for international relations. I work in a global role. I can't tell you the number of times I've had a German, an American, and a Chinese person all on the same call. The cultures are so different that the interactions can quickly go awry. The German will be the most abrupt, seeming to interrupt, being totally blunt, and not realizing he could offend. The Chinese will be the quietest, waiting to ask their turn to speak, sometimes having an underlying meaning behind the words that isn't blunt, and being very careful to not offend. The American will be in the middle. What could happen is that the Chinese person finds the German to be a rude, heartless boor. The German will think the Chinese person not forceful, not direct enough, and pussy-footing around. The reality is, we all have different cultural heritages which overlay our perceptions that we aren't fully aware of. Meyer has worked quite a bit internationally and has 8 attributes where the different cultures are put on various continuum. After reading this, I came away being more effective in my global interactions and have now led several discussions successfully. And of course, learning to be aware of my own cultural issues...

This book really is for everyone, not just the traveler, or international business guru, I highly recommend this read. I found it insightful and helpful as I prepared to spend time studying abroad for my MA. I also believe this is a great resource for anyone in higher education. Having spent the last 11 years working at a University I see multiple applications to the diversity a college campus often fosters.Myers says, "The point here is that when examinging how people from different culture relate to one another, what matters is not the absolute position of either culture on the scale but rather the relative position of the two cultures. It is this relative positioning that determines how people view each other." In other words, you can't claim someone is a specific way without understanding the person you are describing them to more fully. For example, if I say "she is friendly" to both a very quiet person and to a vocal extrovert the expectations they develop may vary. One version of friendly might look very laid back and smiley, while the other looks more chatty and charismatic. I plan to use this resource for all levels of culture mapping both when abroad and on my home base.

I used this as a textbook for an undergraduate cross-cultural studies class in an international business management program. The book was relevant to the course for these students. The author gave multiple examples involving diverse countries from her own experience and qualitative research. The majority of the examples were European and US-based but also included several Asian cultures and a few examples from South and Central America. Very few examples were given from nations in Africa. What I appreciate most about Meyer's work was that each cultural approach was appropriate in its own setting. There are no "right" or "wrong" cultural practices. She highlights the difficulties encountered when one person or group works with another person or group that has different expectations. She provides strategies for managers working with multi-cultural teams and strategies for those working cross-culturally with a team from a culture different than their own.The author mentions several of Hofstede's dimensions and I supplemented the course with additional information from Hofstede's study. The visual diagrams were enlightening especially when comparing countries with multiple scales. As is usual when studying other cultures, the students had insights into their own cultural approaches.

Who Was Ulysses S. Grant? It was a summer day in 1861. The Civil War—the clash between Northern and Southern states—was just beginning. A Northern officer, Colonel Ulysses S. Grant, was getting ready to lead about a thousand men into battle. That’s what he’d been trained to do. He had been an army officer for many years. He had fought in a war before. But this was different. This was the first time Ulysses was in charge. It was the first time he was leading a huge group of men to fight—and possibly die.As Ulysses marched along, he began to get nervous. He later wrote that his heart pounded so hard, he could feel it in his throat. The closer he got to the Southern troops, the more frightened Ulysses became. Secretly, he wished he could stop marching. But he couldn’t do that. It was his job to keep going, no matter what happened next. And guess what happened next: Ulysses found the enemy soldiers’ campsite. But the soldiers were gone! They had run away! All at once, Ulysses realized something. The enemy soldiers had been just as afraid of him as he was of them. From that day on, Ulysses S. Grant never let fear stand in his way.

Having consulted countless self-help books written by gurus who appear to have it all figured out, “Goodbye, Things” was a breath of fresh air to me. Fumio Sasaki’s tone is quiet, contemplative, open-minded, and above all, humble. I easily identified with his description of how he used to be: constantly making myself miserable by comparing myself to others; berating myself for not keeping up with household chores; spending way too much time on internet research to buy something, only to never get much use out of that item. And if a self-proclaimed “regular guy” like him could go from being a depressed shop-a-holic living in a dark, messy apartment to waking up with the sun every morning feeling happy and grateful, I couldn’t see any reason not to give this minimalism thing a try myself. When I discovered the Japanese version of this book over a year ago, my husband and I had already downsized quite a bit after reading Marie Kondo’s “Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.” But reading “Goodbye, Things” has had even more of a dramatic impact on our lives, mainly because it made us think fundamentally about how we use, and why we keep, certain things. Our priority went from “living in a nice apartment full of things we love” to “minimizing our footprint to maximize our time and freedom.” We used to talk about buying a condo someday; now the idea of taking out a mortgage or being tied down to a place does not sound appealing to us at all. We used to tell each other we should entertain guests more often; now we realize that was only because our friends like to host dinner parties, and we felt guilty for not reciprocating. We have accepted that the number of things we can realistically take care of are much, much smaller than we once thought.“Goodbye, Things” also helped us let go of items that sparked joy but we weren’t actually using or taking good care of. I really resonated with Sasaki’s observation of the “Silent To-Do List”: the more objects we have in our surroundings, the more they contribute to our already overwhelmed sensory load, and the more time and energy they take up. My husband and I used to have three bookshelves full of our favorite books, but now we only keep a handful that we are actually reading. We also let go of our long-owned musical instruments, after we finally came to terms with the fact that playing them just was not our passion or priority anymore. As difficult as this was, now it feels as though a huge weight has been lifted off our shoulders.Overall, I found this book to be a very helpful and inspiring introduction to minimalism, and for my husband and me, it really did change our lives.

I purchased a bunch of Kindle books on decluttering a few years back, including the Marie Kondo one. They had some good ideas, but somehow I just kept collecting stuff. A couple weeks ago, this popped up in one of the srollbars on my Amazon homepage, and I picked it up (Kindle) on a whim.So glad I did! For whatever reason, this one matched me better than the others, possibly because it looked like the author had some of the same issues I struggle with (books, in particular). One of his other offhand observations was that his old bed was heavy, and that was pretty much a direct hit too! I live with a couple cats in a one-bedroom apartment, and I refuse to get a bigger place just because the square footage has too much stuff for me to set up a writing/creative area. With this book, I figured out a way to open up a lot of space in my current apartment, and while I doubt I'll make it to a real "minimalist" living space, I can definitely see getting down to a slender "mediumist" place. (I love my backup toilet paper!) This book doesn't "shame" you either, if you don't happen to want to get down to practically no possessions, it just does a wonderful job of explaining how to let go and find your own balance so your stuff doesn't take over your life.

At first I wasn't sure about this book. "Great," I thought, "another single, male, Fight-Club-quoting, Steve-Jobs-idolizing minimalist is here to tell us how superior he is for reducing his life to a mattress and a MacBook." I wasn't far off in some ways, but before long the author's openness and lack of pretension had completely won me over. The first part of the book is practical advice, and though he includes references to minimalist friends with spouses, hobbies, and children, it's mostly oriented toward people like himself. (The advice is still pretty good). For me the best part of the book was the second half, where he talked at length about the changes minimalism had made in his inner life. I found myself nodding in along as he talked about silent to-do lists and the procrastination they cause, the joy of living in the present, and finding value in just being ordinary.Recommended to anyone who thinks of minimalism as chilly or self-centered, because this book will fill you with warmth. Not recommended to anyone who is just looking for the perfect manual. That's not what this is trying to be.

I'm very happy I purchased this book. As someone who wants to reduce belongings and simplify life it's hard to justify buying another book but this does have a ton of wonderful ideas to help you let go, simplify, etc. (tangible and nontangible things).

So many things I've read on minimalism focuses on decluttering your possessions. One level up from this are the most typical reasons to minimise and the typical benefits. Goodbye things goes one level higher by discussing how your whole lifestyle, thought process and perspective can change. I feel like this book puts into words the fundamental obstacles and urges people who are interested in minimalism have but are unable to articulate fully. Reading this book gave me such a sense of relief, like all my unarticulated yearnings to simplify and find happiness had somehow tumbled out and were being reflected in every word written on the pages of this book. For every person looking to become a minimalist but can't quite find the motivation, I highly recommend this book.

I've read dozens of minimalism books- definitely some better than others, but this one by Fumio Sasaki is probably one of my favorites, if not the absolute favorite. His words inspire without being condescending or laying on the guilt. He makes you believe that minimizing your possessions is not only doable for the average maximalist, but also that doing so will revolutionize your life. I have already been in the process of minimizing, but this will serve as inspiration now and again in the future. Enjoyed it so much that I intend to start it over again tomorrow.

This book is useless. I am actually doing all the reading because I have to for a class, but it's a huge waste of time.Like the others said it's tons of questions with few answers. Maybe that's "the way you are supposed to learn PR" as my professor said. But the problem is most students won't even read this book. And I'll have to go else where or answers. The questions aren't even stimulating. And since there is maybe 35 questions per page it doesn't serve the Socratic method. A few questions with answers would. If you are a professor please do not make your students read this book. First of all, good luck getting them to. Second of all, refer to point one.Update: after forcing myself to read this book up until the mid term I finally gave up on it. I couldn't justice the waste of time that it is. I even talked to my professor abo it it and he admitted that he regretted chosing the book as well, and that it's terrible. So, all that to say don't get this book and if it's been assigned refer your professor to these reviews.

Worthless textbook. Absolutely worthless. To charge the price they do for this book should be a crime. Unfortunately, you likely are buying this for class, but let me reiterate that this book offers no guidance for the MPRE, and you would be better off snagging a free study guide off the internet. Advise your professors to avoid this book in your, "end of the year" reports, to hope others don't have to blow money for no reason other than to put it in the publishers wallet.

This is an awful textbook. It poses a ton of rhetorical/hypothetical questions and then never answers them. It would be helpful to have at least general answers to those questions. It also takes the problem-based approach, which is hard to follow because it speaks in the form of examples instead of discussing the rules directly. I took the MPRE and this book was ho help.

It was a textbook for class. I really was not a fan of the book. It has a problem and explanation layout that was a little irritating to read. I didn't feel like I was learning PR. Wish me luck on the MPRE.

I purchased this book thinking it was the concise version that the image shows AND the version that corresponds to the ISBN that is listed...however they trick you into the University Case book series that they slide into the title. Don't be fooled!

This book has a lot of questions but no answers. I would be nice if they included some general response to the answers!

I almost never write reviews, particularly on textbooks. Simply stated, most textbooks are neither good, nor bad enough, to warrant the time and energy. That said, this book is truly the worst legal textbook I have ever encountered. The unending hypothetical questions following its hundreds of poorly written case explanations are extraordinarily distracting and light years away from being useful. Moreover, this edition is absolutely fraught with typos.I would try my hardest to transfer out of any class utilizing this textbook, as any professor who thinks this book is a valuable tool to learning legal ethics is as out-of-touch with modern pedagogy as this book's distracted authors.-Law Student

Looks good as new.
