I am going to give this book three stars because it is just more of the same. So-so. Honestly one of the things that I think this series has lost is pacing. Sarah and Nicholas’ story took 4 books to tell. It was witty, funny, surprising, and sweet. With all other books, the stories and characters are too rushed. There is nothing to savor. And honestly with each book, Ms Lynch has gotten more graphic with the sex. When did she become a smut writer? I had to warn my teenage daughter and several others that the smut levels are getting to be too much for teen/young adult. I hate to let this writer go because I was one of her first readers of Relentless, but I really don’t believe in her writing anymore. Not everyone wants smut and shock value. Some of us enjoy (an appropriate) and slow burn romance and in-depth character focus.
Finally, the day I have been dreaming of and dreading has come. With the release of “Hellion,†the Relentless series has come to a close. I am so thankful to have found this series when it was just finding its footing in the world, so that I could be there for all of Sara’s wild adventures, Emma’s second chance at life, Beth’s second chance with the man she has always loved, and finally Jordan’s chance to see that there is more to life than fighting, and that to save the world, one must find something truly worth fighting for.I have been dying to read Jordan’s story since first meeting her in Refuge, and with this final installment of the Relentless series, I was SO NOT DISAPPOINTED! I knew that, when the time came for her to meet her March, she would give him the chase of a lifetime. And BOY did she DELIVER! Jordan is still her spicy, snarky, and fierce self. However, I loved seeing her discover a devoted and tender side to herself that she was not even aware was there all along. Jordan has grown so much since first meeting Sara and getting the opportunity to advance beyond her years as a Warrior and protector. Jordan is a woman to be admired and her will to do whatever it takes to do what is right knows no bounds. You won’t want to miss out on this final chapter in the Relentless world. Prepare yourselves for the adventure of a lifetime!
It pained me to give this book 4 stars. It's not that it's a bad book -- her books have just become very formulaic. If you've read the previous books, you'll know exactly what happens. That's usually fine, but this time, the book lacked pizzazz -- Jordan wasn't a particularly interesting or funny heroine, and she was somewhat dis-likable at times. Her pivot from not wanting a mate to wanting one was very sudden to me, and I found that she and her mate lacked some chemistry.If you've liked the previous books, you'll like this one. It may not be your favorite, but you'll enjoy it.
I loved Sara and Nicholas's story, and often reread them together (flipping between books to get the scene from the other POV). I enjoyed the other stories, but they just weren't as good. I was excited for Jordan's story and very hopeful, but it just didn't work.Also, the series has slowly been increasing in the amount of sexual content in the books, but this really crossed over the line. I loved the way the author handled it in Sara's story (it was there, but really no details - it was sweet and beautiful). In this book it's uncomfortable to read.I also kind of wanted her to deal with the elephant in the room issue with her universe. All these orphans had their father's abandon them, and yet it's seen as normal and fine. There was one line in this book about it, but it was dismissed immediately as unimportant.
Another amazing book by Karen Lynch. I love how this author thinks and writes. Her stories are so amazing and sucks you in, in seconds. Anytime I open any one of her books I come alive in her stories. Karen Lynch did not disappoint in her last book of the Relentless series, “Hellionâ€. “Hellion†is told by Jordan’s POV. Jordan character is full of character, spunk, sass, and totally badass. As a reader of this whole series I really felt like I had a good idea of who Jordan is but in her story you really get to know the true her. Her character has so much depth. Her earlier life story was so touching. It was very entertaining reading about Jordan and her possible other person in her life. (not wanting to spoil anything). I truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend this book and the whole enter series.
Omg Omg omg I just finished this and I am high on all the emotions I felt reading this!!!It is so perfect, I have wanted Jordan’s story as soon as Sara and Nikolas’ books were done and it was as brilliant as I knew it would be!! I adore that Karen Lynch has everyone we love in each book so we never are without them while we travel new journeys to find HEA for our striking crew!!!Ok ok back to Jordan, I mean what more can be said other than she is BA incarnate and it shows In This book. She’s fierce and stubborn and she never lost that in this!! Demon activity has increased leading to major earth shattering revelations and our fiesty heroine is caught dead in the center! Not to be outmatched we meet her hawt alpha half and the real chaos begins. I love the alpha half in this book ( although I had some pretty serious thoughts on ending his ability to be a man at one point). He is her perfect half and I loved seeing them work things out. There is a bit more steam in this book than the first few but you won’t hear any complaining from me!! We are also front row and center for some fresh demon blood in this book that we have never seen before.The action was intense and the tension was top notch! The storyline flowed perfectly. There’s enough action to bring up your blood pressure followed by mysteries and twists to keep the reader engaged until the very last page! I’m sad that this is the last in the relentless series, I have loved every moment spent in these books and will contribute to re-read them all for years to come!

This is a very helpful book with lots of valuable information about a non medication treatment option for Tourette Syndrome.
I bought this book thinking it would give specific suggestions for different tics using Habit Reversal Therapy. Instead, I found a workbook (yes that's what they called it so I should have known) to be used with a trained professional. Many pages are just blank, to be filled in. This book is a great starting place for new system administrators, and also contains valuable information and ways to think about problems for senior system administrators. I own the first edition, and the third edition is full of more new things, but equally accessible and easy to read. Start with any chapter and you can learn something useful, or read it front to back for a wholistic view. I am the interrupt sponge (see p10) for my team, but I use this book as a resource for teaching and mentoring.
This book is a crucial library item for any System or Network Administrator regardless of how many years you have under your belt. I picked up the second edition when I first became a sysadmin and it helped me a lot throughout my career. I was very excited when it was announced that this third edition was coming as the second edition has not aged well. The third edition is the perfect, much needed update to the second edition. This new version is definitely now up-to-date and should hopefully give us another decade of service. I definitely recommend this book for the sysadmin in your life or in your office. I always recommend it to my colleagues as it contains valuable information for your career. In fact, buy a few copies because if you loan this book out, I doubt you'll get it back!
This is an amazing book and was very excited to see this new edition come up. I work in the IT field and wear many hats and this book provides me with guidance to be successful in all areas in IT from service desk to Infrastructure to Web services. IT can be a rough spot for many but this book really sheds some great insight, practical tools, and positive ideas to get through not only through the technical facets, but also what I feel were left out from the OSI model - Layer 8 the political layer. 😀 I admire these authors and the experiences they have shared in this book. Kudos to them and I hope they continue to share more in future editions to come.

I never thought this day would come, but thanks to Morgan's advice and book I have a completed rough draft manuscript!
Normally I'm skeptical about how-to books because the authors talk like cheerleaders: high on the motivation, but with little to no specifics on how to overcome the challenges along the way. I was very pleasantly surprised with this book.There are a lot of prospective authors, but most end up getting daunted by aiming too high, and lose interest when the whole book-writing process doesn't quite pan out as easily as they think it should. This author talks about the different options now available to prospective book authors: Instead of writing a full-length book, they can set aside a few weeks to write a short book, and use that to test their market through electronic distribution. From there, they can build up confidence and knowledge about their market, and work their way up. Why set yourself up for a fall, when there are other good options available which may bring you closer to your goal of becoming a published author?In the book, she also reveals some of her "tricks of the trade" which may come in handy for prospective authors. I am a sucker for this kind of information since I like to learn trade secrets for how people go about doing their work. These are not complicated tricks, but are things you can put into action for yourself in an afternoon. Not complicated, and very handy to know.This author also works as a freelance editor for prospective authors, and she is very upfront about how this book helps her to discover prospects for her own editing business. I came away convinced that she knows what she is doing.This is a small solid book, and should be on your tablet if you are serious about becoming an author.

I just want to let everyone know that the email she gives, is not a working email. I emailed it right after I heard it. My email account is still trying to send it, it has failed at least 3 times. So no she is not reachable, but I guess it did help me get my book started. After I listened to the first two chapters, I was able to write my first chapter and it was over 3,000 words. I was not able to do that, but this helped me realize that I am my own worse enemy and I made it happen. Thank you for the help, but I really could wish I could email the author. I guess that was naive of me. oh well.

Great deal for a used book.
This is the perfect book if you are planning to travel to another country but even more so if you are planning to do business with another country! It's a great resource on other cultures and their people. Not everyone thinks like we do and this will help you even out the differences. I would give it more stars if I could!
Great advice for the international traveler. I especially enjoyed the brief histories given for each region. It truly helps to have some knowledge of the events and experiences that formed the culture, and how that might relate to some of the actions and motivations today. The examples given open your mind to consider that what actions that might be "natural" or "proper" or "taken for granted" here at home may be construed differently abroad. I also appreciate the list of references should I wish to do more in depth research.In short, the book is very well written in a natural, friendly tone that makes it a pleasure to read.
I have lived in Israel, Guatemala and Germany and think it would be useful for people who are going to travel or live in another place to read this book. Lanie points out so many small but extremely important cultural differences, such as conversational formalities and body language, and how being familiar with these nuances can make or break a business deal or greatly affect how one is treated in another country. This book will help the seasoned traveller and the novice to remember to think outside of his/her own world when embarking on an international trip.
Full of practical information from beginning to the end. The opening quotes for each chapter "I Wish I'd Known" and "I Wish They Knew" highlight the importance of becoming familiar with a country's culture before traveling or embarking on a business venture outside of the US. I laughed out loud at times ( and hope to avoid some faux pauxs made by others). A good book to read before traveling or while on the plane!!

The title says it all. No drama canning. If you like to work smart, not hard, this book is yours. Lots of visuals. Some of the tried and true recipes, some different ones. I made the recipe using fresh cranberries in syrup. It's best not to overcrowd the jar with solids, lots of pectin in cranberries, so you want it to be loose, not tight. ( I found out by doing it twice). I have canned up whole cherries, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, etc...but never saw one for whole fresh cranberries. Perfect for fall/winter gift giving that won't break the bank, great to pour on top of ice cream, pound cake, yogurt. There's a simple BBQ sauce using ketchup, not tomatoes as most BBQ canning recipes need, making it very "basic" and easy and fast. I had at least three very large containers of ketchup from the big box store, so I was glad to have a way to use some of it up! I made it and used it w/o canning it to decide if I wanted to can up more of it, and i will next time now that I've sampled it. In fact, you can also use the cranberry recipe right away too w/o canning it, so it's very flexible for now or for storage to eat later on. You can take the BBQ sauce and use "as is" like we did by coating chicken wings and ribs in the smoker. Next time I will gussy it up by adding to it other flavors before using it from the jar, maybe adding some chipotle in adobo.I like lemon anything, there's a lemon jelly in here, easy peasy too. Like I said, back to basics.

Includes a few pickle recipes that can go right from stovetop to the refrigerator without going through the hot water bath canning procedure or a pressure canner. Water bath canning is the simplest and easiest method of canning since you are not using pressure to can but it does limit the type of items that you are able to can. Water bath canning is all that is needed for most jams, jellies, and pickles and is the perfect way to start into the food preserving world if you are a beginner.The first of the book goes over the basics of water bath canning and some of the basic items that you need to get started.The chapters are split into types of food:Chapter 1 - Jams, Preserves & MarmaladesChapter 2 - JelliesChapter 3 - FruitChapter 4 - Fruit Butters & SaucesChapter 5 - TomatoesChapter 6 - PicklesJams, jellies, fruits, and pickles are typical and easy items to water bath can. Tomatoes are on the borderline of being safe to water bath can since the tomato’s pH levels can not be high enough so the recipes for the tomatoes have Ball citric acid or lemon juice added. It is recommended now to add acid to all tomato recipes whether water bath or pressure canned. I have used vinegar instead of citric acid or lemon juice but vinegar can change the taste of the food and we just don’t like the vinegar flavor in our tomatoes.We tried a couple of the salsa recipes: tomato-jalapeño salsa and the habanero-tomatillo salsa, neither of which contain sugar and do contain fresh lime juice instead of citric acid or vinegar which we preferred on both accounts. The sweet pickled radish recipe is definitely a winner and something I would have never thought to have canned. We also tried the saucy sloppy joe starter which is a canned sauce that you can add your own meat to later just like the store bought variety but so much better, healthier and homemade.I definitely recommend the Ball Canning Back to Basics for anyone interested in getting into water bath canning. The book is a paperback but the pages and cover are nice quality. The pictures are full color and nicely done.
good info but very very basic. if you want to get into caning and know nothing about it, this is the book for you.
I love the Ball's Canning Books! They have great recipes which are safe and are so easy to follow, even if it was your first time canning you will be able to use it. I made several of the recipes in it already and the recipes are so diverse that it isn't a waste of money because you don't like peach jam or something else. I know Amazon/Ball lets you take a sneak peek of the book so I won't repeat what it consists of but I will say that I highly suggest getting yourself a copy.
Very limited on traditional recipes -- not even a recipe for sweet pickles. Find a better book.
Great, simple directions. I have never canned anything in my life, but I feel quite ready to start. The recipes look great. My only dissapointment is there is not a recipe for figs in the book and I now have a fig tree. But I can surely find a recipe and follow these basic instructions.
I'm new to canning, jam-making - all of it. I managed to make my first batch of jam (blueberry lemon - it's amazing, you must try this one!) AND can it with zero issues. This book was immensely helpful in giving me the confidence to attempt canning and making my first round of jam.This book walks you through the steps, making it easy (and far less scary) to embark on your canning journey. On the surface it seems like there isn't much to this book, but my toddler thinks otherwise. She absolutely loves it. The cover is really the only part of the book with a variety of bright colors, which is why I'm taking off one star. The inside deals more with muted greens, browns, oranges, and reds. There is something about these shades and their illustrations that captivates her. Maybe because they're unusual for a board book? Personally I wish it had more variety, but I'm not the target audience. My 20 month old gives it a big thumbs up!
Simply put, this book was a let down. If you are looking for a young children's book that emphasizes color, I suggest going with a long time favorite instead, like "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see," by Eric Clarle. It shows that a story can be incredibly simple and still hit it out of the park, so it would be worth the extra $10 to have a book you will read over and over to your kid.Judging from the cute and vibrantly illustrated cover and the fact that there are several more books that comprise this series, I thought this would be an engaging and fun pick to read with my child. The content really ended up being a miss for us both, and the pictures were so obscure in terms of subject matter that I really couldn't tie in new vocabulary or point out a lot to to my toddler. Maybe I would appreciate it more if I lived in Manhattan, but I doubt it. The pages were all pretty much monochromatic and the text was nothing close to a story line, rather a single sentence was written on every other page and it probably took just as much time to write the book as it took me to read it.I found it bizarre and it really didn't hold my 17 month old son's attention.While I understand that this book is meant be all about showing a different color on each page I think there were so many missed opportunities to excite and evoke curiosity for this great age group. My son LOVES books and he was over this one within a few minutes.This board book was one of four sent to me as part of my Prime Book Box subscription that I signed up for last month. It was my first box and I have to say, I was really underwhelmed with the selections I received with the exception of one that was really great. This book was my least favorite for several reasons, which I expanded upon, and although I had the opportunity to swap out the books that Amazon chose, the options were surprisingly limited and there were only 8 stories in total to choose from. I think from now on I will just stick to the library and buy my books individually with my Prime account. The subscription saved me an average of $1/book I think. Oh well!
I purchased all 4 of Ashley's new books. They are for a friend's babyshower. She requested books instead of cards for her baby shower. I chose to purchase the whole series. I hope these become bestsellers as they are beautiful books.
My toddler loves this series of books! Great photos of the city describing the colors.We are going to be taking a New York trip this coming up spring & she's so excited to take the book with her.
This series of board books for babies has won my heart. Evanson takes us around the world, one fabulous city for each book. The artwork is amazing: Chic hipsters, all wearing black, strolling along; orange leaves in Central Park; yellow taxis. It drips with gorgeous color, which will fascinate baby. You'll love it, too.
Got this as part of a birthday present for a friend's little girl. I love it. So much so, that I bought another one to keep (for a future child's library? lol). I just love New York, and I think this is perfect not only for teaching colors, but also pointing out landmarks in the Big Apple and perhaps preparing a young child for an unforgettable trip to an amazing city. I hope the li'l bday girl enjoys this book as much as I do (but knowing her, she'll probably think it's a teething toy).
These books are cute and the illustrations are fun. I wished the pictures were more obvious as to what color is referenced. There are many shades of orange and brown on the orange page, for instance. It's better for an older child, but I find it hard to teach color to a 17-month-old with this book.
Any children's book that tells you New Yorkers wear all black errything (not in those exact words) is a book we need in our household. This book is so fun and bright and such a fun way to teach kids about colors!
